Neptune rules fashion and glamour and it’s been interesting to watch what’s happened since he roared into Pisces in 2011. Men rediscovered their inner dandies; women went kind of dishevelled and started dying their hair crazy colours.

Hair has gone all the shades of the ocean from cerulean to lilac to icey teal to rainbow to grey. Indeed, women have been sporting the kind of hair a mermaid might comb. This is street fashion but it’s also been taken up by the popperati.

Pisces Sun Rihanna has experimented with all kinds of hair colour over the past decade — she looks absolutely gorgeous in pale blue though (2015). She also took on-line subculture seapunk (how Neptunian is that?!) mainstream a few years ago with this performance of Diamond on Saturday Night Live.

Of course, some of us are always ahead of the style curve. This is singer-songwriter Gwen Stefani back in the 1990s. However, you’ll be glad to know she has Neptune smack on her Ascendant and NN in Pisces pointing the way.

Beyoncé, of course, has outdone everyone by actually naming her child (born in 2012) Blue Ivy.

Back in the 1850s, last time Neptune was in Pisces, women were doing some pretty crazy things with their hair too — and, of course, the hello-sailor look was quite the thing… and beards. Ladies’ hair was parted in the middle with poofy side-wings and braiding was big.

Found on Pinterest. The double parting dates it to the 1850s.

An inspiration for Tim Burton perhaps

An inspiration for Tim Burton perhaps. Apparently, the wings are padded and they kind of match the hooped skirt.

Neptune’s previous tour through Pisces brought out flowing locks in men. The King of France favoured a platinum blond wig in this style — again a centre parting and a lot of padding.

So what next? Well, apparently grey hair is quite the thing at the moment…

reminds me of the cover to the album Roxy Music, 70s with Jerry Hall posing as a mermaid

Loving the looks. Still puzzled with the Neptune/hair connection but it’s surely there! I started getting a bright purple strand every once in a while since 2013.

To me, hair is Neptunian in as much as it is the closest thing human beings have to a built-in “veil.” I remember when I was a teenager and Neptune was transiting over my natal Sun, I obscured half of my face with long bangs for a couple of years!

I’m not sure it’s hair per se — just fashions & fads.
