Great Christina – and yes totally agree about Ceres and the earth – just in the middle of a post about that. Her role in democracy I think also important. Indeed – not just any old Saturn-Pluto conjunction!
On the “what happened in your country” note …
The 1983 General Election was a landslide for the Tories and Labour’s worst ever. That’s bookended by the 2019 disaster for Corbyn which to my mind has confirmed that old Labour is dead. The electable Blair/Brown years were really just a neo-liberal, pseudo-Tory version of Labour. Those coincided with Uranus and Neptune in Aqua; and Blair had a Aqua moon.
Likewise China has an Aqua moon and this year’s December conjunction of Jupiter-Saturn occurs in Aqua too and will influence of the next twenty years. Come 2024 we have Pluto moving into Aqua until 2040; and soon after Uranus will back that up from Gemini. So China it is …
Thanks for these summaries, really good tying it into the cycle. Along with geo-politics, and intimately bound with it, are cycles of economic power and institutions, like the IMF, founded 1945-47. And the dominance of particular doctrines. It strikes me that this conjunction may well (I hope) be seeing the end of the particularly nasty neoliberalism championed by by Thatcher and Reagan from around 1980-82, that arguably reached some sort apotheosis in the UK and across Europe with the wrongheaded pursuit of ‘austerity’ (as opposed to prosperity, how on earth did they manage to sell that?). I see plenty of evidence that this ideology is finishing around the world, and particularly in conjunction with my second observation:
Your highlighting of Ceres here I think is key. This is the Green New Deal, the desperate need for whole new structures and institutions, worldwide, to drive the transition to the post carbon economy. The end of the combustion based one we’ve built since the dawn of the Industrial Revolution (begun of course in the UK). The end of coal burning in UK over the last decade, the fuel of the IR, is deep symbolic here, I feel. And optimistic.
But this happy take is rather to rush ahead to the positive transformational side of of these forces, sadly there’s no rebuild without first the teardown… and here too there is plenty to see right now, eg the devastating Australian fires, which just might, tip the corrupt climate denier grip on that nation (Murdoch too?). So there should be a brave new world of economics and the environment growing from the ashes of the structures built by old capitalist neolibs like Murdoch and Trump… here’s hoping this conjunction and these eclipses see the end of these planet eaters and impoverishers before the year is out. That’s my prediction… waddayareckon?
@urbanista — it’s green new deal or bust, I reckon. If the Australia chart I used is accurate, then that country might come out of these fires transformed.
What would happen to China if their chief supplier of coal stopped shipping, I wonder.

This set of conjunctions is so big that I feel blinded. For the past week or two I’ve had a vague sense of anticipation (or dread), of waiting for the other shoe to drop, and have found myself checking the news way more often than is good for me. But at the same time, I have a sense of the big wheels slowly grinding, and know that it will be a lengthy process. And yes, let’s hope that this is the time period when Ceres finally gets our full attention again – it’s been too long.

Russia seems tied to the Saturn-Pluto cycle too. The 1917 revolution abolished the monarchy, 1947 created the Eastern Bloc of all the satellite countries, 1982 Brezhnev of course.
@44 Yes, unfortunately his timing is good — as usual.
In 1982 the Sun newspaper, founded in 1964 during the Saturn Pluto opposition, waged a price war against its rivals. Sales soared, boosted by the Sun’s faux patriotism during the Falklands War, and all sorts of nastiness spilled from its pages, including the infamous Gotcha headline. They used their influence to promote Thatcherism and the Tories and smear Labour, especially Michel Foot. I noticed just the other day James Murdoch criticing the family business and I am hoping this is the first sign of things changing. Much of the UK media coverage of the Labour Party is a disgrace and they have no chance of being elected unless it is tackled.

Murdoch bought the Sun in 1969 – I’d forgotten that he bought it rather than founded it.
