That Link on the Left

Wednesday December 21st 2011

I don’t do ads on this site. But I have just added this Amazon button.

It works like this. If you were about to buy something on Amazon and you clicked through here instead of going straight to the big A, The Oxford Astrologer would get a percentage, but you wouldn’t pay any more for the product.

That seems OK to me, but tell me if you think otherwise.

Sounds good to me! I’ll keep that in mind for sure…

It is an early 21th century myth that people (that is, single, creative individuals) can make a living from the internet. Christina, once we would have read you in magazines, and you would have been paid a modest sum by those magazines for your expertise. Now we read and enjoy you for free, which is, of course, lovely. But the bottom line is how do you feed your family? The book YOU ARE NOT A GADGET by digital guru and philosopher Jaron Lanier, (www.jaronlanier.com) looks at the digital world we’re living in now. What he has to say is both amazing and horrifying by turns. Take a look at it on Amazon (via Christina’s website) and then if you decide to buy it, you will have taken a small step towards putting the creative individual back at the centre of the universe.

Thanks for that link Lachesis. I have just had a sobering half hour reading the Q&A. Yikes.

But I have to make a point about the astrology. “Cloud computing” — this boomed exactly during Neptune’s (fog) transit of Aquarius (computing/networks). It’ll be interesting to see what transpires when the misty one moves into Pisces in Feb.

And thanks also both of you for giving the Amazon button the thumbs up.

  4. Opal says:

I do a lot of shopping on Amazon so I’ll use it. Good idea!

  5. Cosmic Mummy says:

Have you thought about suggesting a top 10 review of Astrology based books with link to the books directly on Amazon and indeed link to the booms you have written too?

Good luck with this enterprising venture Christina.

  6. Christina says:

@Opal – I have an Amazon-habit too. @Cosmicmummy – especially astrology books, which are never going to make it to Blackwells anyway. I might just do a My Top Ten.

  7. Sabrina says:

I think is GREAT. Plan to use it in the future so will gladly do it from your website!

  8. P says:

Gotta do what you gotta do, Christina.

  9. Sabrina says:

Hi Christina! I can’t find the amazon button in the new design. Is it still here?

  10. Christina says:

It’s there but so buried that I can’t get access for you guys. Thanks for prompting me to get it fixed and thanks even more for remembering!

Correction: try to get it fixed. I’ve had a go several times …. love to the babies

  11. Sabrina says:

yes please, let me know if you can pull it out from the virtual depths! (those little ones are yummy :)xox )
