The Revival of the UN

Friday September 27th 2013

It’s hard to believe but it seems as if Iran and the United States might make friends, Syria might let in weapons inspectors, and Vladimir Putin and Barack Obama are back on speakers. Oh and global warming is on the agenda thanks to a UN report… maybe this time something substantive will happen.

Not so long ago, it looked as if the United Nations might be on its last legs. But last night was a night of miracles, everyone seemed to be talking to everyone else. One needn’t get carried away, peace is not breaking out – yet – but something definitely shifted. And if you look at the natal chart for the UN, you can see why. Yesterday’s transits were pretty astonishing – from Pluto on the MC to a little lunar return, it was all go.

I’ll leave you to drink in this chart and its transit yourself.
Pluto is about death and rebirth. Barack Obama’s Sun is at 12° Leo, Vladimir Putin’s at 13° Libra – just saying…
Have a good weekend.

so I’m just starting to learn transit stuff, but a lot of the natal and transits are lined up in this, which is rare?

Yes. tr Venus (peace) conjuncts with natal Mercury (talks). Pluto (transformation, death and rebirth) is on the Midheaven, the highest point in the chart. This is really the most important transit since it can only happen every 200 and something years. It’s an ongoing one since it’ll come back to this position again, but it suggests that the UN’s place in the world is going to be transformed. It’s make or break.
Tr Sun has just gone into Libra, the sign of the dealmaker, and is applying to the highly idealistic and visionary natal Venus-Neptune conjunction in Libra. So it’s like the Sun is re-igniting that ideal. Of course this happens once a year but this year, you have the Pluto on the MC. Pluto is important to the UN anyway because it has Sun in Scorpio which is ruled by Pluto. You could look at it as the phoenix side of Scorpio, first rising from the ashes of WW2.
tr Uranus is opposite both the natal Venus-Neptune and the natal Chiron-Jupiter, which is all about a really big wound. The UN was born out of a big wound after all, but right now that wound is being agitated again.

Shows you what can be achieved when an American president decides to act as a real statesman instead of simply trying to solve problems in the world by throwing bombs.

I do hope they can keep this up, however – Mars still has to pass through Libra as well ! Fortunately Mars in Libra is not strong. .Let’s wait and see what happens then.

Of course there are more players in this situation – but the one chart I would like to see is the chart of this female journalist that asked the first question to mr. Kerry what could be done if mr. Ässad would give in about his chemical weapons and that started these men to for once think before they leap !

Which female planet could have been working there??

What strikes me is the UN North Node in Cancer 01′, an Aries point. The UN being reborn and transformed by Pluto MC to evolve the UN into our global institution for healing Mother Earth, something that the worldwide Sustainability community has been longing for and acting to make happen for many years.

The natal Venus-Neptune idealism also feels like calling astrologers to transcend the personal and social Venus and now engage with the Cosmic Venus who is the offspring of Gaia and holds the sacred cosmic balance of the energetic elements in her hands –exactly what global warming is disrupting and destabilizing.

I have to say, rarely has an astrological observation given me as much hope for the future as this one of yours, Christina. So I thank you from the other side of the pond here in the breaking down, dysfunctional, ungovernable US for giving me a glimmer of hope.

Mars in Libra also carries the possibility of active diplomacy; conversely, could also fuel a war of words…
