Astrology of Now: Jupiter & Juno 2

Monday May 4th 2015
Tarot Jupiter juno

From the Swiss Tarot

The rulers of Olympus, Jupiter and Juno will be exactly conjunct on May 17 at 14° Leo. This puts the royal couple in the royal sign together for the first time since 1966. But already they are just a few degrees apart. This is a very significant energy throughout May and into June that will affect all of us — especially if you have planets or points around those degrees in Fixed or Fire signs.

All Fixed signs — Sun, Moon or Ascendant — ought to benefit.

The king and queen only meet each other every eight years. Compare that to some other couples — the Sun and Moon every month, Mars and Venus at least once a year. Are Jupiter and Juno too busy running the family business to spend time in the marriage bed?

Infrequency makes their meetings more potent.

Starting from 1960
Capricorn — November 1960
Leo — October 1966
Pisces — July 1974, August 1974, November 1974
Virgo — September 1980
Taurus — April 1988
Scorpio — November 1994
Cancer — July 2001
Aquarius — February 2009

You can see that effectively the conjunction switches from one side of the Zodiac back to the other, although not always consistently in opposite signs. I think it might be useful to look at natal Jupiter and Juno sign as well as Sun sign and Ascendant to get a ballpark view of what has gone on in your own life. If you have Jupiter in Virgo, for example, was 1980 a particularly good/empowering year?

A quick scan through some history has turned up a few events on the conjunctions that smack of Jupiter & Juno:

John Lennon and Yoko Ono met under a Jupiter-Juno conjunction.

John Lennon and Yoko Ono met under a Jupiter-Juno conjunction.

In November 1966 John met Yoko at the Indica Gallery under a Juno-Jupiter conjunction on his 5th house (love affairs) Pluto (life-changing). In October, Roman Abramovich, the “king” of the Russian oligarchs in London, was born and so was David Cameron, the current Prime Minister.

In November 1960, JFK won the US election inaugurating the era of “Camelot” in the White House.

In 1974,  Britain had to have two elections in the same year because no party had a majority in the House of Commons. Hmmm – could we have a re-run of that on May 7 this year? You can see that is the year of that Juno and Jupiter met several times. Harold Wilson, who eventually held office for two years after the second election had Sun in Pisces.

On April 11 1988, on the day of the exact conjunction, a truly lavish movie about rulership, The Last Emperor won nine Oscars.

On the day of Barack Obama’s inauguration in 2009, Juno and Jupiter sandwiched the Sun at 0° Aquarius in a tight stellium directly on Obama’s natal Jupiter at 0° Aquarius. Since Obama’s Juno is at 0° Aries, it was in sextile aspect to that stellium too.

Since the exact effect of Jupiter-Juno conjunction is not clear yet, keep an open mind about how this could work for you. Next post I’ll look at this conjunction on a more personal level.

  1. Dunyazade says:

Well, my natal 9th house Sun is at 16º Leo, so maybe…

A… foreigner power couple (a king and a queen!, lol) will see my books (maybe the astrological ones) and… tweet about them? And I’ll sell Millions! LOL. I have no idea…

  2. Gee says:

Well I also have interesting planets around that leo point – Pluto 8 degrees, NN 12 degrees, and Jupiter 21,so it should be interesting time. Maybe not all close enough to make any real difference though, but I’ll be keeping notes!

  3. Peter says:

In 2009, I moved to China, which had been a lifelong dream. My Jupiter is in Aquarius 9th House. I started the plan for that in 2001. My IC is at 15 Leo. I wonder what this year will bring?!

  4. kym says:

This will be sextiling my Sun in Gemini…

  5. Eleonora says:

There is something conservative about that relationship… it’s not about love or passion, on the contrary. Juno/Hera protect the institution “marriage“ as such… sacrificing (not only her own) emotions, life and pride for the institution. Queen is doing the same (for the instituion „monarchy“), the Popes anyway.

Now personal experience: That last Jupter / Juno contact was 3 degree apart from my Aquarius-Jupiter in the 5th. (Natal Juno in Libra, trine Jupiter). While I was in a happy relationship at that time and in love with my boyfriend, a little melodrame happend with my supervisor (30 years my senior), his wife, and a co-worker. I wasn’t even aware that something was going on (I was quite young) and really disturbed. Perhaps it’s because Jupiter opposition Mars (0°04′). On the positive side I was working a lot with foreigners and so I met a guy (Libra) who turned out to be my soulmate. We only spent one evening talking with each other, but we remained in contac over years. Few years ago he got a beautiful daughter (pisces) he named after me (again 5th house staff).

The next conjunction is at the same degree as my chart ruler, so – huh.

    • Christina says:

I agree completely. It’s conservative with a small c, about maintaining the state or status.

that’s kind of a romantic story though, but again it’s about something of long-lasting value in the end.

  6. Lauren says:

My 1st house Sun is at 13’56 Leo trining my 9th house Jupiter at 19′ Aries and squaring Neptune conjunct IC at 12′ and 14′ Scorpio. Juno is at 1′ libra a semi square away from the transiting Juno Jupiter conjunction with my Sun. Any ideas anyone?

    • Christina says:

It’s probably about your identity. Are you foreign to where you live? Who is your tribe?

      • Lauren says:

I am not foreign but I have moved a lot. I am feeling isolated from my tribe at the moment as I have lived for a long time in a very beautiful rural place far from most my friends and while naturally a bit of a hermit, it’s gotten quite extreme. I have been feeling it is ime for more partnership and connection, however, with my 7th house Saturn in Aquarius opp 1st house Sun it can be difficult to find people I want to hang out with. Also have been trying to reach my ‘tribe’ online to get my internet business going.
Do you think that the Jupiter Juno conjunction with my sun could mean a romantic partnership?
Thanks for your interesting take on the transit.

  7. Christina says:

I don’t think it’s necessarily romantic, but partnership of some kind. I also think that the natal trine from Jupiter suggests this is likely to be a very positive transit. My instinct says “grace”.

Neptune on the IC can mean living like a monk! (at least for a while)
