Obama In Africa

Saturday July 25th 2015

Just a quick note here, but sometimes you just couldn’t make the astrology up: it’s so simple. US President Barack Obama is visiting Kenya the birthplace of his father for the first time in his presidency.

The astrology?

astro_2gw_441_barack_obama_adb.61058.5128Saturn, the planet associated with the father (along with the Sun) is on the president’s Midheaven at 28° Scorpio. Obama is honouring his dead father. He is also stepping into his father’s shoes in some sense. This visit is not just some courtesy call, but an acceptance of his African legacy and of a deep responsibility. This Saturn is at the highest point in the president’s chart. It’s an important moment personally – and for Africa.

But there’s more. Venus is Rx to, so this is a revisiting of an old passion. Obama has visited Kenya before but that was as a private citizen not in his role as world’s most powerful politician. Venus has just slipped back into Obama’s Sun sign Leo, where she will soon encounter tr Jupiter, currently on Obama’s point of destiny the North Node. It looks very emotional. Note that the transiting Moon is also involved. For this two day visit she will be transiting Obama’s Midheaven too.

Obama’s MC is pretty much square his Nodal Axis on the “bendings”, giving his career tremendous dynamism. And it’s this square that is being awakened by both Saturn (practically stationary) and Jupiter. These two ancient kings of the Zodiac are turning the wheel of fortune again for Obama. TrNN is in Libra trining Obama’s Moon, which is his sense of home, among other things.

Barack Obama’s career as a world leader will be far from over when he leaves the White House. It looks as if he is shouldering yet more responsibility, not less.

Hi Christina. What about transiting Jupiter the planet of travel and overseas connections conjunct his chart ruling Uranus and North Node, his point of destiny. Very significant monent for him…

    • Christina says:

It really is personally important isn’t it…

      • Rachel says:

I would consider Saturn to be his chart ruler since Saturn is the traditional ruler of Aquarius. And as Christina pointed out, he’s receiving an incredibly powerful Saturn transit to his MC in positive aspect to natal Saturn.

Uranus/NN stuff is highlighted too as it’s in challenging aspect to tr Saturn/MC. I wonder if he’s feeling a disconnect between his previous visit as a private citizen, where he’d be free to openly ponder his roots, vs. as a public persona and all the rewards and challenges that brings. The right to privacy (Saturn in Scorpio) vs the right to be adored (Sun, venus, Jupiter in Leo) all in his own unique, individualistic way (Uranus, NN in Leo).

He may want to do more than he is “allowed” to do. Or differently. Seems like an incredibly personal trip as mentioned, yet also about as public as you can possibly be!

And then Venus Is the ruler of his IC. Origins. It just makes you smile when you see something like that. As I learn more about them, I’m amazed of how the nodes work. Lovely to read this over Sunday breakfast :). Thanks Christina

That he speaks out about LGBT rights in Africa where the prejudice is pre-historic…
Will the Uranus Pluto square see the end of all turd polishing as we know it..? peeps in power speaking truths to oppression, ignorance and corruption bringing a more truthful media…
Finally on planet earth the heavy energy of a lie will be recognized like the smell of a stagnant fart…

Needless to write, I disagree. You have stretched the meaning or symbolism of the planets to suit the situation, yet again. According to western astrology, tenth house is either the mother/father, or grandparents. Saturn ‘could’ represent grandparents, or the one who gave discipline as a child – not necessarily grandparents gave discipline. Venus is relationships or physical pleasure. Very mixed and confusing as you can see.

But there is more flies in the ointment as far as your interpretation goes. Natally he has saturn at 25 – so transiting saturn is going back into natal saturn. I would say this is not a very happy time for him. I know because just like him, I also have transiting saturn going back into natal saturn, with transiting jupiter oppossing natal saturn. I am not a happy bunny at the moment. A difficult time for him.

Notice as well he has jupiter at the beginning of sagg. When saturn goes forward again there is the distinct possibilty of a breakage, or irreversible change – maybe even over the midpoint between saturn and jupiter.

  5. Christina says:

It’s standard to read Saturn as the father, and Obama does not have Jupiter at the beginning of Sagittarius as you can see from the chart. Tr Saturn is not “going back into Saturn”, it is stationing at 28°. Venus is far more complex than simply “relationships or physical pleasure”.

I think you need to go back to your astrology textbooks. May I recommend Rob Hand’s Planets in Transit.
