Nasty Women

No matter what you think about the candidates for president in the USA, the campaign has given rise to some barnstorming feminist political speeches. It feels like a real breakthrough — a change in the weather.

In astrology, we have a “nasty woman”. She’s called Black Moon Lilith, and she’s strutting around in Scorpio this year. She’s been here since May, and she won’t leave until February. Lilith in Scorpio seems pretty powerful. She’s even been given a voice by Senator Elizabeth Warren, whose speech about nasty women made some of us fall around laughing.

“Nasty women are tough, nasty women are smart, and nasty women vote, and on November 8, we nasty women are going to march our nasty feet to cast our nasty votes to get you out of our lives forever.” (Lilith at 0° Aries, no less, exactly square her revolutionary Sun-Uranus conjunction at 1-0° Cancer) Lilith in Aries is a warrior, a leader and a pioneer.

Michelle Obama made the two best speeches of Hillary Clinton’s campaign. This one in New Hampshire ought to be taught in schools in years to come. Lilith in Scorpio has been working hand in hand with Pluto in Capricorn this month. Pluto in Capricorn has been busy transforming power structures all over the world since 2008. Now maybe it’s the turn of patriarchy.

“And now, here I am, out on the campaign trail in an election where we have consistently been hearing hurtful, hateful language about women – language that has been painful for so many of us, not just as women, but as parents trying to protect our children and raise them to be caring, respectful adults, and as citizens who think that our nation’s leaders should meet basic standards of human decency.…It has shaken me to my core in a way that I couldn’t have predicted.” (Lilith in Sagittarius conjunct Ceres and square to Chiron in Pisces.) Lilith in Sagittarius is a warrior too, but this one conjoins Ceres, the asteroid of caring and motherhood and squares Chiron, the asteroid of the wound…

Politically, of course, the US is behind much of the world, where women have been presidents and prime ministers for decades. Here are some nasty women.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel — Lilith (22°) conjunct MC (21°) and idealistic Neptune (23°) in diplomatic Libra  square Uranus (23°)-Sun (24°) in patriotic Cancer. The worlds’ leading states(wo)man for more than a decade

Hillary Clinton — Lilith in corporate Capricorn (29°) riding solo, but sextile her Venus-Mercury in Scorpio. Lilith is currently at 17° Scorpio, sliding just between Venus and Mercury in her chart.

Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon — Lilith conjunct Mercury in Leo (a sharply brilliant, charismatic speaker)

And one nasty man.

Russian President Vladimir Putin — Lilith conjunct Pluto-MC in Leo and trine Mars in Sagittarius. That’s a bit scary if you think about it too hard.

But this led me to wonder about Lilith. Her placement seems to impart enormous power to the planet or point she touches, so I looked at Barack Obama’s chart. His Lilith is exactly conjunct his Mercury in Leo (both 2z°) He is an almost supernaturally gifted orator — and so often he seems to be able to speak for the many. I am thinking of his speech after the massacre at Sandy Hook for example.

When we access Lilith perhaps we access a power that much bigger than ourselves, much older and much deeper.

  1. Joanne Bourne says:

US Astronaut Peggy Whitson, 56, will be taking over as commander of the ISS, Expedition 50/51 in November.
Women, we are doing very well in the year of the Red Fire Monkey.
I’m reminded of ‘The Thunder, Perfect Mind’ from the the Nag Hammadi every time I think of these fantastic women, which begins: “I was sent forth from the power…”

  2. Christina says:

Updated this post: a typo. Clinton has Lilith at 29° not 19° as per previous post.

  3. Maria says:

Nasty are the wars in the Middle East and the TTIP and these have a much greater impact on the lives of women than all the beautiful speeches in the world. For me it’s far more important what people do than what people say…

  4. mimi says:

Donald T. has a nasty square between his nasty natal Mars and natal Lilith, which makes me wonder on November 8 : by then Mars will be almost conjunct Hillary’s Lilith – will this Mars give her power or will it destroy her ?? I sincerely hope for the first option.

    • Christina says:

Well-spotted mimi. I note that he has a tight sextile between his very important Neptune and Lilith in risk-taking Sagittarius & qq his Mercury in Cancer. There’s something there about the power of lying.

      • mimi says:

All the more reason to be very suspicious and not jump to conclusions in this campaign.

I will be glad when all this is over, but is it over on 8th November ? Who knows what the Donald will come up with then ?? Or the FBI ??

Do you see any aspects or signs that maybe something might happen like when George W. became president ?? Could easily happen.

        mimi

        • Christina says:

I agree mimi — and I haven’t had time to look again — it’s not going to be a triumph.

And speaking of George W. — just to point out if Al Gore had defended his vote in Florida, and won, we would likely not have had the Iraq War and we would have done something about climate change. These things matter.

  5. Fleur says:

Which Lilith do you mean? Where is it on Astrodienst charting?

  6. Fleur says:

I am curious where Lilith is in the chart of Theresa May, our prime minister. She isn’t nasty, she helped an autistic man when decades of labour home secretaries had let him down and Obama hadn’t helped him either. She seems very intelligent and powerful and not afraid of standing up to people.

  7. Fleur says:

Is Lilith the symbol on Astrodienst charting that has a crescent Moon with a cross underneath it? If so, Theresa May has it in 3.5 degrees Aquarius. Three degrees away from Chiron in 6.5 degrees Aquarius, which has an exact opposition to Uranus in 6.5 degrees Leo.

    • Christina says:

Yes, it is and yes she does. I do relate Lilith to childlessness sometimes & I think this is true in her case. Apparently she was very sad not to have children — Chiron conjunction. However, not having children has given her the opportunity to pursue politics vigorously — and in an Aquarian way.

  8. mimi says:

Maybe Lilith has to do with childlessness, however there are many more aspects and reasons why this cannot happen, for instance when Saturn is located in the 5th house in the combined horoscope of a couple.

Lilith gives a sort of boldness which can help create an other mission in life after working through the grief of not having children. One aspect of the life is denied by the Universe but the Universe allways opens the other door to another mission in life. We just have to be aware of this and accept it.

  9. Severne says:

Wonderfully nasty women! We need more gals like Michelle Obama and Elizabeth Warren…
People are voting early here. The voting centers have been pretty busy from what I’ve seen.

  10. Nancy says:

I guess I’ll be one of the Nasty women casting my Nasty vote next Tuesday for Nasty Clinton.
