“I Can’t Breathe”
When George Floyd was murdered on May 25 by a police officer in Minneapolis kneeling on his windpipe, his final words were: “I can’t breathe.”
Somehow, this statement resonates powerfully with our time, and it was taken up by demonstrators across the US. “I can’t breathe. I can’t breathe.”
He was not the first African American to die from a broken windpipe. That’s how lynching works too. And in 2014, when Eric Garner died in a police chokehold, his last words were also, “I can’t breathe.”
I’ve written on this blog before about how African independence movements and the US Civil Rights movement were connected to the conjunction of Pluto and Uranus in the mid-60s. That was the inception of a major cycle. Those Civil Right degrees in mid-Virgo are currently opposed by Neptune in Pisces (sacrifice) and squared by Venus retrograde in Gemini (a loss of civility).
When #BlackLivesMatter got going in the mid-teens, we were at the opening square of that cycle with Uranus (rebellion) in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn. While Uranus was in Aries, we saw protests around the world, where people were wearing different kinds of masks, and protesting for the rights of the individual (Aries) against governments or the “establishment”. Now, Uranus is in Taurus — and we’ll be getting to the opening trine of the Uranus-Pluto cycle, which is an “easy” aspect.
Protesters are chanting, “I can’t breathe.” Taurus rules the throat. Uranus is currently at 90° to Saturn in Aquarius — restriction (Saturn) in the fixed air sign. Authority (Saturn) in the sign of organisation squaring revolution (Uranus) in the sign of the voice.
This hard aspect will stop in early July but come back again in December, and repeat in 2021. Venus turns direct on June 25 and will go back through Gemini in July, Neptune is stationing now to turn retrograde in June 23. I hope the latter does not imply more sacrifice and instead suggests peaceful change.
There’s much more astrology to look at with this wave of protests across the United States, including the US Pluto Return in the 1776 chart…. but that is for another post.
So what you are really saying is that there is more on this channel. When there’s no money, there’s trouble. And the whole sale and depleting of revenue to line Republican’s pockets is extremely maddening. Things will explode and it will be worst. Back then non violence in the face of hatred and hostility succeeded. I don’t think that that will be the case. I don’t like to admit it but I feel that a great deal of violence will be forthcoming. And it ain’t pretty.
Take a look at what Mars does later this year… very worrying.
Yes – Mars has definitely been on my mind.
Oh — and Mars in Pisces is just coming up to those Civil Rights degrees too.
Also on another topic — seemingly — victims of COVID-19 can’t breathe.
It’s also worth noting that a mask good enough to protect the wearer does what? Make it harder to breathe.
Gee whizz, Beav. Round & round we go.
Ah, yup, so it wasn’t just me thinking that 🙂
Martin Luther King said “A riot is the language of the unheard. And what is it that America has failed to hear?” … to avoid doubt he was opposed to violence and wanted to solve things peacefully. Certainly the Civil Rights movement of the 60s made some progress but clearly not enough.
The Rodney King incident which led to rioting in LA seems relevant too. The beating occurred on March 3rd 1991 – Saturn was at 2-3 Aqua. He was born on 2nd April 1965 so right in the middle of those Civil Rights deg. Transiting Neptune was at 16 Cap dissolving them with Uranus closing in to join it by the time the riots took place in April 1992. It appears there is some hope as LAPD has changed – it’s not perfect – but it’s much improved – but sadly took the threat of a lawsuit rather than doing the right thing to get that change … https://edition.cnn.com/2017/04/28/us/lapd-change-since-la-riots/index.html
Final thought … you couldn’t make it up that the incident in Minneapolis involved a cop “taking a knee” which mirrors Colin Kaepernick’s peaceful protest.
It’s extraordinary.
And thanks for the Rodney King data. Very relevant.

Just saw it mentioned on Twitter that George Floyd’s killing is the Saturn return of the Rodney King beating by cops.
Oops, just saw that in the comments above
It still bears repeating.
… and this about breath as healing came onto my timeline today

Make America great again? Not this way!
The land of the free? Not unless you are white!
Americans need to wake up and see the hypocrisy that they preach when their own country is in such a mess and they have a president who is as racist as the cop who killed this innocent black man.
As the white grandmother of a beautiful little soul of colour. Aquarius sun, sag rising, moon, uranus Conj in aries.. SN sits on my Sun.. I haven’t stopped crying over this racist filth. I’m. 64 and I can’t see this ending in my lifetime unless pluto finishes his job in capricorn and brings down the whole stinking system. Sorry for the rant but I’ve always felt safe coming here to express my feelings.
I can understand sun/aqua with Uranus/Aires. This must hurt your sense of justice in addition having your senses and sensitivities being assaulted. If I’m not mistaken it was L. Johnson who was instrumental in changing things. But to have this revisited again OMG. We are no different from anyone on this planet. We bleed the same. We are all indigenous to this planet. Sorry but Trump’s got to go. He fans the flames.
You’re safe here — and I hope that one of Pluto’s missions in Capricorn is black power.
I’m struck by the key feature of even minimally-symptomatic Covid-19: hypoxia, which is basically the body’s cells saying, “I can’t breathe.”
Exactly — and the message is clear. The planet can’t breathe either.
I also note this in the Guardian today (13 June) – “People in the camps are suffocating, they can’t breathe,” said Mohamed Hassan Adam, director of Abushouk displacement camp in North Darfur. – It makes me feel coronavirus respiratory problems are also linked to this moment. I was born 17 November 1966. Today Neptune and Mars are conjunct, along with the Moon, conjuncting my natal Saturn in Pisces and exactly opposing my radix Pluto-Mars-Uranus conjunction in Virgo, with Sun in Gemini currently T-squaring that aspect. I feel okay though, like I’m in the eye of the storm. But what happens either side … is anyone’s guess.
