Still Life with Oranges. Rafael Romero Barros

Still Life with Oranges. Rafael Romero Barros

World is crazier and more of it than we think,
Incorrigibly plural. I peel and portion
A tangerine and spit the pips and feel
The drunkenness of things being various…

from Snow by Louis MacNeice
One of the things I love about this time of year is the contrast between the sweet sunshine scent and taste of oranges and gloomy grey skies. All of summer seems to be distilled into the orange, and in each bite there is the promise of next spring.
So how lucky that this is the season when the most delicious oranges from Spain and Morocco arrive in the shops.
Maybe we can peel them together — from my living room to yours — and marvel at nature’s complexity and humanity’s incorrigible curiosity.
December Horoscopes are ready for your perusal — including many oranges.
This month’s gathering is on 4 December, 7.30 via Zoom — link is on the Member’s Page or in the horoscopes. And I think we’ll talk about the year that went and the year that’s coming, although we’ll have a proper session on the latter in early January. Year Ahead videos will go up in mid-December.
