Poor old Valentine’s Day, supposedly a day of romance and chocolate-munching, stuck in the chilly middle of February, stranded between Christmas and Easter, Imbolc and Equinox. You can’t help wondering if this day has been developed as a special lover’s celebration in order to encourage consumption of left-over Prosecco from Christmas and paper napkins.
