Is it June already?

Something weird has happened to time over the last six months. It’s accelerated — as if we were on a high speed train crashing through barrier after barrier. And in another way, it has slowed down, as we watch the slow-motion catastrophes in the Middle East, Africa, the United States and Ukraine unfold before our eyes.

This may be something to do with the gathering of energy at the very end and the very beginning of the Zodiac. Most of that energy has gone through — Venus, Mercury and the Sun have moved on. But Saturn and Neptune will be in that very early part of Aries all summer and then they will slip back into Pisces in September and October.

And then there’s our beautiful burning planet: this summer there will be many wild fires. Mercury spends July and August in fiery Leo fanned by the flames of Uranus in Gemini from 7 July. Mars is still in Leo in the first part of June.

And bizarrely, the catastrophes and the cute cats scroll past us on the internet, one abuts the other, all pressed into the service of bloating billionaires. Everything feeds the algorithm, and everything feeds AI. Hello Pluto, wealth accumulator, in the sign of tech.

So how do we carry on as the world around us appears to be falling apart? And as the pieces fly off, some are hitting us, whacking our friends. It’s not just global; it’s personal.

Pass the Blu Tack. Get yourself a cup of tea. Deep breaths.

1. The future is not what it used to be. It’s flickering before our eyes, like a series of still images rushing across a screen. Could it be this? Could it be that?

2. I would love to say to you: “It will all be over by Christmas.” But that would be a lie. Now that we’re in it, we have to go through, and come out the other side. That could be several years down the line, so it’s a matter now of keeping ourselves aligned and positive and safe.

Keep in mind that Saturn and Neptune are really just visiting Aries now. We won’t begin to be into the new world until after they move back into Aries in January and February. Also Uranus changes signs in early July, causing another massive ripple of change across Mother Earth, like a cat stretching. Yet Uranus also will turn back into Taurus and won’t properly move on until 26 April 2026.

3. Astrology teaches us that there are many different ways of approaching the same life situation, and that each may be as valid as the last. There are 12 signs, and they all see the world through particular filters and deal with problems in particular ways. We need all approaches. We need the flexibility of the mutables, the leadership of the cardinals, the steadiness of the fixed signs.

With Saturn in Aries now — for a while — and making a conjunction to idealistic, mystical Neptune, we may be able to both focus on the practical and keep our eyes on the ideal. Old rules are melting away, the new ones are unclear, but the idea of a better future is still there.

When the Berlin Wall came down, under a previous Saturn-Neptune conjunction, no one really knew what would happen. Idealism and people power (Neptune) dissolved the wall (Saturn). On there other side of the world, in Tiananmen Square, idealism and people power were stopped short by the wall. So you can see, these things can go either way.

At the Solstice, the Sun moves into the same area of the sky as Jupiter, adding fire to Jupiter’s launch on the great sea of Cancer. This is bound to be an emotional year ahead for everyone, as Cancer is the place of memory, mothers and babies, tenderness — all will be expanded. Jupiter is said to be exalted in Cancer, so the emotions may be overpowering.

This summer, we pause on the threshold of a new world, standing with Neptune and Saturn on the edge of the entire zodiac, looking at all the possible futures flickering past. It’s up to each of us in our own individual way to catch the beautiful future, the good future and try to bring that into being.
