European leaders are meeting Donald Trump at the White House. This is a truly historic moment. Who are the personnel? In a few words…
Donald Trump, we know, is a Gemini with Leo Rising, born on an eclipse so Sagittarius Moon. Changeable, but must feel regal.
Volodymr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, is an Aquarian with Jupiter in Gemini Rising, and the Moon on his IC in Leo. Like Trump, he’s a Full Moon person, but he is fixed, determined and quick.
Giorgia Meloni, President of Italy, is a Capricorn with Saturn Rising in Leo and the Moon in Sagittarius. Another regal leader, intuitive, ambitious. Charming but tough.
Mark Rutte, the Dutch head of NATO is another Aquarian, but with Virgo Rising and the Moon in Aries. Impetuous, seeks to serve, torn between self and the team.
Sir Keir Starmer, UK Prime Minister, is a Virgo, birth time unknown, with the Moon in Libra. Natural diplomat. He does have an exact Pluto-Sun conjunction, though, so he is known for his ruthlessness at home in Blighty.
Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, is a Libra, birth time unknown, with the Moon in Leo. Another diplomat. Quite a sense of entitlement and decorum, but maybe good at banging heads together.
Alexander Stubb, President of Finland, is an Aries, birth time unknown, with the Moon in Taurus. Likely fierce and fast, a warrior. After Zelenskyy, his country is under the most immediate threat.
Emmanuel Macron, French President, is a Sagittarius with Capricorn Rising and the Moon in Taurus. A talker with big vision, ambitious, and actually patient and willing to build
Friedrich Merz, German Chancellor, is a Scorpio, birth time unknown, with the Moon in Libra. Seeks harmony but actually willing to go in for the kill. Another warrior deep down.
Appropriately, for talks among leaders, Mercury (communications) was on the Midheaven (7°Leo) at mid-day in Washington DC as the whole show began — opposed to Pluto in Aquarius (3°). These talks will be very consequential.
The Moon starts the day in Gemini, the sign of conversation, but by 4pm, it will move into Cancer, coming into the Big Pattern, making a tense square to Saturn and Neptune in fiery Aries, and a weird inconjunct to Pluto.
You can see that one element, water, is missing from all these charts, except for that of Friedrich Merz. Of course, we don’t know everyone’s birth time, but still the preponderance of fire is notable. I wonder if that means Merz’s role will turn out to be pivotal. It’s interesting that the Moon herself will be watery and in her own sign, while the Sun is in its own sign too.

I am working on a piece about Putin right now. Another Libra, of course, with Venus Rising! I think it’s about who can manipulate most effectively at this point. The astrology is partly around that Mercury direct in Leo, the sign of kings.
