Beltane Greetings

Flora by Mosé Bianchi
The hedgerows are slathered with blossoms as thick as Cornish cream. If you took a bite you’d end up with a petaled moustache and maybe have to wipe it away with a handkerchief of Queen’s Anne’s Lace.
I am wishing you a very delicious May Day wherever you are. This one is exceptional, of course, because of the great big Scorpio Full Moon, which takes place at 6.23pm BST on 1 May. So this fills the whole day with that fertile, fecund Scorpio-Taurus power.
In the Northern Hemisphere, this time of year, when the Sun is in Taurus, the sign of earth and flowers, ruled by Venus, nature shows us her most decorative abilities, spreading carpets of flowers across the land, dangling petal chandeliers from every tree and bush, sprinkling colours everywhere. In the woods and hedgerows, the chicks are hatching, and every spinney and coppice is ringing with birds in conversation. Nature is loud, colourful, ebullient.
Of course, it’s not like this everywhere, but for a huge swathe of the earth — across Asia and Europe, North Africa and North America, the promise of summer hums like electricity down a wire. It’s so lovely at this moment to stay still and listen to the bees buzzing, the birds singing, the whispering of grass pushing up to heaven. And in May, we are reminded that heaven is here if we only look.
This luscious, potent Scorpio Full Moon, is suspended on the opposite side of the sky from that huge ball of fire in Aries. The Moon and the Sun in Taurus stand apart from the other planets, almost detached. Perhaps this is a reminder that muddy, glorious life continues, thrives, reproduces in Taurus, even when the machines of destruction attempt to wipe us out. There will always be a blade of grass forcing its way out of the concrete, a blush of lichen spreading across the rusting carcasses of fruitless wars.
Between 3 and 17 May, Venus and Mercury are harmonising and supporting each other exceptionally well too — through mutual reception. So for everyone speech, communications and social relations should be easier to handle. It’s especially beneficial for Gemini and Taurus, but also for Libra and Virgo.
And perhaps must astonishingly, the outer planets are blossoming into a harmonious pattern that will last for months. More on that later.
Happy Beltane!

How lovely and hopeful.As my 88 year old mother exclaims ,every time we go out on an excursion, “Good old Mother Nature” and she recites poems she leaned as a child:I Wander Lonely as a Cloud,by Wordsworth, and Robert Browning,Home Thoughts.
How sweet! My grandmother, who was born and lived her whole life on the Sussex Weald, used to recite GK Chesterton.
…
The rolling English drunkard made the rolling English road.
A reeling road, a rolling road, that rambles round the shire,
And after him the parson ran, the sexton and the squire;
A merry road, a mazy road, and such as we did tread
The night we went to Birmingham by way of Beachy Head.
There’s a lot more and she particularly relished the last line “Before we go to Paradise by way of Kensal Green.” She was also teetotal, which now kind of adds to the hilarity of it.
