Hi, I saw that there is a charge to get your own monthly readings for each sign and quotes are given that they are very accurate. I am very interested in astrology but was always told that you need time of birth and place to come even close to an accurate personal reading. How can your forcasts be ‘fab ‘uncanny’ etc if you are only giving highly generalised pictures for just the12 signs. This is not meant to be a rude comment just an observation from a very interested ‘Aries’ lady. thanks, looking forward to your reply.

Well, for a start these are not personalised horoscopes. I rely on the intelligence of the readers to filter them and use the essay for each sign for each month to make their own judgments and apply this to their own situations. It’s also why I encourage reading your rising sign as well as your Sun sign. We live in quite a “solar” world, so transiting aspects to the Sun are often quite accurate.

In other words these horoscopes are not prescriptive but descriptive of the energies at work at the time. They are really also for people who love astrology.

This is why they end up being quite lengthy — although February looks easier to summarise than January thank goodness — and also why I don’t do daily or weekly forecasts, again that’s too prescriptive: planets don’t work to a weekly schedule. A month ahead seems about the right length to get some feel for the times.

I also write them at the last minute, so that I feel I’m already inhabiting the region of the next month. Ill-expressed but you see what I mean. It makes the last week of each month rather frenzied here — but it seems to work. You can’t really do this with a year ahead forecast.

I suggest you look at the sample horoscope from last year to see what’s available — http://www.oxfordastrologer.com/horoscopes/sample-horoscope. Since then I have added more info such as charts for Full and New Moons.

An even more general overview which I think is in fact useful is available from StarIQ on youtube. It used to be the late lamented Jeff Jawer and Rick Levine, but Rick is trooping along on his own now https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLjEdOUagQk It’s free.
